About Us

In 1965,The Older Americans Act* became the framework for a network dedicated to working together to serve the nations senior adults (ages 60 and older). Amendments added in 1973 resulted in the formation of over 600 Area Agencies on Aging, one of which is the River Valley Area Agency on Aging. River Valley AAA provides information and referral to elderly and disabled clients who need home-based services.

Direct Services was established in 1979 as a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization to provide services that benefit elderly and disabled citizens who reside within the 16 Georgia counties of the River Valley Area.

The River Valley area includes Chattahoochee, Clay, Crisp, Dooly, Harris, Macon,Marion, Muscogee, Quitman, Randolph, Schley, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor and Webster counties.

Programs provided by Direct Services include:

  • Home-Delivered Meals (Meals-On-Wheels)
  • Congregate Meals
  • Senior Center Enrichment Programs in Clay, Harris, Muscogee, Randolph and Stewart Counties
  • Homemaker Aid Service
  • Community Care Services Program
